Bethesda recently celebrated the release of Starfield, a highly anticipated RPG and the studio’s first new universe in more than 25 years. While reception has been largely favorable — the PC version of the game has a score of 87 on Metacritic — some fans have managed to find problems with it almost immediately.

Case in point: British streamer Heel VS Babyface went viral soon after the game’s launch after he went on a two-minute rant on stream over the fact that he was asked to select his character’s pronouns during the character creation process.

Once he explains how he loves nothing more than settling in with a new RPG, ready to explore an entirely new world, he explodes at the camera about how the game studio drags players out so they can “current date us.” Or as he screams at the camera, “Sorry, did you want to get immersed in our world? Well guess what, f---ing pronouns! F---ing gender ambiguity! F---ing current day Californian shit!”

It’s a tough watch, and the amount of secondhand embarrassment is high — why is a grown man this upset about the ability to choose how a character refers to themselves? Would he rather no pronouns were used at all in the game’s dialogue? Proper nouns only?

More progressive streamers were quick to dunk on Heel VS Babyface, also known as “Az.” Hasan tweeted, “This weird british guy losing his mind over selecting pronouns in starfield is the perfect demonstration for why we must bring back lobotomies,” while Pokimane replied, “this is so embarrassing lmao.” For his part, streamer Cyr responded with, “my man here had a full fledged panic attack because a character customization screen allowed you to customize your character LMAO.”

Even people who would normally agree with Az’s opposition to the existence of pronouns are dunking on him. In particular, one Twitter user included a screenshot of Az yelling at the camera alongside the Luke Crywalker meme.

Az, though, has doubled down on his anti-pronoun crusade, retweeting supportive comments and beefing with anyone who criticizes his stance and uploading videos about how he’s been “canceled.”

Luke Crywalker indeed.
